IMPACT News
We've been playing with some new microphones this month.
RODE kindly sent us their brand new "Wireless Micro" mics to review, and they're little beauties!
They are designed to work with mobile phones, aimed at on-the-go content creators, but actually, although that's a small part of what I do, they're very reasonably priced and I would certainly recommend them.
The review isn't live yet but if you subscribe to our channel and click for reminders you can be the first to watch it!
We have now fully embraced Elgato's Prompter and re-recorded our setup videos in IMPACT to include it. What used to be a real issue of looking at the lens on Zoom calls or freezing when you hit record has gone away thanks to teleprompters like this.

Wow, we've got a ton of YouTube updates for you, this could have been a list of its own! Even if you don't use all these features, you'll sound really smart when you start quoting a few of these features to your colleagues.

Shorts are now... not so short.
The total length has now been increased to 3 mins. If it's not working for you, hold tight, they are currently rolling it out.
Custom Thumbnails for Shorts
Shorts creators have been wanting this for ages, and while it's not all we wanted you can now select a frame, apply a filter and add text.
Live stream reminders in Shorts.
Any of your upcoming livestreams (in the next 24 hours) will be promoted to your shorts viewers, hopefully encouraging them to come and join you live!
Channel QR Codes
Want to share your channel? Now you can select a QR code and promote your channel in a fun way. I reckon it would look great in the footer of your emails! 🤔
Images in quizzes
I'm not sure if you post in the community feed but recently we were given the ability to create quizzes and now YouTube are rolling out the ability to add images as answers.
Ad Blocking
You can now block certain ads from appearing on your channel, either by selecting URLs, sensitive categories, or general categories, but they advise you, it could impact your ad revenue.
YT Courses
Did you know YouTube had started offering a way for us to host courses on their platform?
Honestly, I'm not sure how I feel about it or whether we would use it but when we have access to it we'll certainly have a play and report back. I can see it would be a great starting point for a current YouTuber with an audience, meaning they can stay on the platform where their audience are.
How it works with the community side and what the experience will be like for a subscriber we will have to wait to see. But it's good to know it's coming.
Custom Playlist thumbnails
Did you realise that when you put a playlist together, you can't actually create a custom thumbnail for it? It will just pull in the thumbnail from the first video in the playlist. Pretty limiting right!
Well, not any more. Now you can add a custom thumbnail to your playlist. Woohoo!
Kajabi News
We're really focussed on Kajabi right now and have been creating a ton of content for our new channel.
Erm, did you hear that? We have a dedicated YouTube channel called 'Online Courses Made Easy', where we're mostly focussing on Kajabi tutorials but will be bringing you more general content and reviews too.

Kajabi's Rebrand
Actually, I have a funny story for you (it wasn't funny at the time).
We decided to create a course-style playlist, totally free, walking you through Kajabi. I think there were 29 videos.
I recorded them.
We had just finished editing them.
And Kajabi announced that they just rebranded!!!
Our course was out of date before we even had a chance to promote it!
So what did we do?
We started again and re-recorded it.
When you subscribe to our channel you'll see that we're still dripping out the original videos but then we'll get the new series up next month too.

Newsletters and Downloads
Kajabi quietly slipped in two new products a month or so back, Newsletters and Downloads.
I didn't see the benefits of the newsletter initially, but guess what, that's what you're reading right now! And I think it looks pretty slick, right?
The newsletters will form a library of copies and be available online much like a blog. This is our first one so let's see how well it's received... and don't worry they won't be this long usually, blame it on Black Friday!
Kajabi Community 2.0
Man have I been waiting for this, the highly anticipated facelift for Kajabi's community.
The current one is definitely lacking and I'm not ready to move my Facebook communities over to it, but from what I've seen the new one looks pretty sweet, and will be coming before the end of the year! 🍾
